Language Insight: Gendered Nouns

In French, nouns are either masculine or feminine. When talking about nature, remember that most trees are masculine (e.g. un arbre – a tree) while most flowers are feminine (e.g. une fleur – a flower). Pay attention to the gender of nouns when using adjectives and articles!
