Wizard’s Wisdom: Noun Classes in Afrikaans

In Afrikaans, the word for ‘the’ changes depending on the noun’s gender. For example, ‘arm’ is arm (masculine), so you would say ‘the arm’ as die arm. However, ‘leg’ is been (feminine), so it becomes ‘the leg’ as die been. Pay attention to these noun classes!
