This site is dedicated to micro-learning and interesting facts. It has been a labor of love for me to build it.
Let me introduce myself.
My name is William. I’m a coder who has always loved knowledge and learning. However, school and I didn’t mix.
I didn’t absorb enough information from listening to teachers. If something resonated with me, I’d go into deep thought and not catch the rest of the lecture. I was compelled to use alternative methods of learning, usually by reading.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s, long before the internet. I was lucky that my grandparents owned a bookstore. I spent many happy years reading the store’s stock.
My grandfather was a retired programmer (think punch cards), who loved history, especially anything British. My grandmother loved all books and literature.
I could quench my thirst for learning in all those volumes of knowledge.
I received my first computer around the age of 14. Using a book, I taught myself to code.
I never went to college. I never finished high school, but I was able to turn my book knowledge into a career.
I’ve worked for companies all around the US and Asia, writing games and educational software. Among my favorites were GaiaOnline.com, and TeachingTextBooks.com.
I’ve used these skills to build this site, which will help you and me study the fine details of subjects like history, language, literature, and geography.
I’m constantly expanding the library of topics on this site and welcome any suggestions. To contact me, just use the contact link at the top of the page.
Happy Learning!
William
